What is DESVGN?…

Desvgn (“design” spelled with a “V” for Valley) is an organization of artists, architects, and designers dedicated to cultivating student and professional art and design in the  San Joaquin Valley. Through various programs and initiatives, our organization seeks to provide opportunities for underrepresented artists, architects, and designers in the region to showcase their work, build their skills, and connect with industry professionals. The San Joaquin Valley is centrally located between Los Angeles and San Francisco, which gives Desvgn an opportunity to bridge the two major art and design poles of California and promote a vibrant and thriving art and design community.

One of the main programs offered by us is our website www.desvgn.com, an online exhibition of both student and professional art and design from the San Joaquin Valley. This exhibition provides a platform for creatives to showcase their work and receive feedback from industry professionals. It also serves as an opportunity for students to network with potential employers and establish connections within the region's art and design community.

We also offer a range of workshops, podcasts, and training sessions covering topics such as technical skills, business development, and interviews with industry professionals. These resources are designed to help artists, architects, and designers in the San Joaquin Valley build their skills and succeed in their careers. We collaborate with community colleges such as the College of the Sequoias and Fresno City College, along with CSU Fresno and the Fresno Arts Council to lead workshops, instruct classes and host exhibits.

In addition to these programs, we host in-person networking events and provide opportunities for mentorship, collaboration, and design competitions. These events bring together professionals from a range of disciplines, and provide a space for creative exchange and collaboration. We also offer mentorship programs, pairing students and emerging professionals with experienced mentors from the region's art and design community.

We are committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in the San Joaquin Valley's art and design community. We actively seek to provide opportunities for underrepresented groups, including women, people of color, and individuals from low-income backgrounds in the region. We seek to give every artist and designer an opportunity to tell their story.
